Brook again showcased his class in Wellington and smoked a breathtaking 123 off just 115 deliveries – an innings which included 11 fours and 5 sixes – to take England from an under-pressure 26 for 3 (which worsened to 43 for 4) to a competitive 280 in the first innings.

Carse again made inroads in the top-middle order and bagged four wickets to rout New Zealand for a paltry 125. England dominated the match thereafter and registered a massive 323-run victory.

DECEMBER 8 – ANOTHER PINK-BALL NIGHTMARE FOR INDIA IN ADELAIDE

It was not quite the horror of 36 all-out in 2020, but it was another humiliating defeat for India within three days in the Pink Ball Test at the Adelaide Oval.

DECEMBER 22 – PAKISTAN WHITEWASH SOUTH AFRICA IN HISTORIC ODI WIN

Pakistan scripted their first ODI series sweep against South Africa hammering the hosts by 36 runs in a rain-affected clash in Johannesburg.

It was South Africa’s maiden home-series whitewash. Opener, Saim Ayub, was the star performer for Pakistan and the second-highest scorer of the series with an aggregate of 235 runs which included two hundreds at Paarl and Johannesburg.

"I really missed the semi-final because of the one-match suspension. It was such a crucial match," the 31-year-old India's defensive mainstay told PTI in an exclusive interview during the team's felicitation at the India House here on Saturday.
