Hosts Fortune Barishal defeated Chittagong Kings by six wickets in the 25th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BBL) 2024-25 on Sunday (January 19, 2025). The crunch T20 cricket match was played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. (More Cricket News)

The Tamim Iqbal-led Barishal had opted to bowl first after winning the toss and then restricted the Kings to 121 runs in 20 overs. Captain Mithun was the highest run-scorer with 35 off 34 balls. Arafat Sunny's unbeaten 27 off 34 balls helped them post a respectable total.

Dawid Malan came to open the inning with Iqbal and remained unbeaten with 56 off 41 balls. Mohammad Nabi also made 26 not out off 21 balls to help Barishal win the match comfortably. Ripon Mondol and Faheem Ashraf took three wickets each whereas Tanvir Islam also grabbed a couple of wickets for the Barishal.

After this win, Fortune Barishal have 10 points with five wins in seven games. They are second on the points tale with the unbeaten Rangpur Riders topping the chart. Chattogram Kings remain in the third position with eight points.

Before this match, the Barishal had registered wins against Durbar Rajshahi (league double), Sylhet Strikers, and Dhaka Capitals but have to run-away leaders Rangpur Riders, twice.

The Kings started their BPL 2024-25 campaign with a defeat against Chittagong Kings, but the 2013 finalists responded with four wins on the trot, against Durbar Rajshahi, Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Strikers, and the Tigers. The Riders ended Mohammad Mithun & Co's winning run on Friday.
